Went Waterfallin'

Rain, rain, and more rain. None of it was particularly heavy, though, and what fell was far short of the sort of rain we sometimes see fall in a late summer monsoonal thundershower. But if you don't go look, you'll never find.

Going 'waterfallin' is an actual thing we do around here. At the best of times --i.e., when the skies really let loose and dump a ton of rain, hundreds of waterfalls pour off the better of the cliffs, but the rain today did not produce the best of times. At best, the rain that fell today did produce a lot of mud, and I might've been better off photographing my mud-covered boots after I got back home. But I didn't.

The attached, instead, are as much as I could find today. And if I hadn't gone to look, I'd never have..........

Loved the last one and noticed a small rope knotted at the lower end and hanging from what appears to be a spike at the right hand side of the photo. What was it???

The rope and spike (which is actually a bolt, but to quibble over those two would be a kind of potato~po-TAH-toe distinction) you noticed would be an 'anchor' of sorts where some boater/river rafter --many years ago-- decided that that big rock would be a good place to tie their boat up and get on land. The river (the Colorado) is really, really low at present, and at higher water the bolt's placement makes better sense.

I've never heard a Southwesterner complain of rain! But then, I'm not sure if I hear complaining or just commentary!?
Nice photos!
And yeah, I remember chasing waterfalls!

The third one of the "trickle fall" over the dark rocks looks like a wall hanger to me. I'm gonna say it is one of your best.

Our rain has activated quite a few of our "serendipitous" waterfalls. Unfortunately, I didn't go shoot them! You're a better man than I, Gunga Din! Really nice images.

Ah! but let's not leave out the lines that Kipling wrote just before the one you wrote, APL! Which are:

"....though I've belted you and flayed you,
by the livin' god that made you,"

[....you're a better man that I am, Gunga Din.]

Okay, that said, since I hold with neither 'belt'ing (i.e., I won't slip the leather belt that holds my jeans up off, then proceed to whip you --or anyone!-- senseless with the buckle end of it) nor 'flaying' (which should go without further explanation other to mention that, KRIKEY! whomever gets flayed is going to be a very unhappy camper, and will probably scream some as they get on Amazon or the web site of some skin re-supply company as they order --and pay for-- that new birthday suit), so far be it from me to subject you to grief like that.

Because however much any of us tries (not that I know this firsthand or anything, but I HAVE seen it on the internet, so it must be true) to belt and/or flay somebody else, doing so isn't generally considered 'nice.' And besides, what's even worse than somebody belting and/or flaying you, even that can't compare to the belting and/or flaying we do to ourselves.

I'm not saying you should belt and/or flay yourself for the moral, photographic, and existential failure you seem to have exhibited by failing to go outside IN THE RAIN to go SHOOT whatever serendipitous/ephemeral waterfalls you could've shot, but I guess you're gonna do whatever you do, and I can't stop ya.............
