Great series, Ron, I always wanted to visit Australia, but life got in the way.
Shots from my various trips to Melbourne, which were all for business. I also made visits to Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane over the years.
A shot from my hotel room window - August 1992 - Minolta XG-M, 50mm
Flinder Street Station - August 1997 - Minolta Vectis 25
The Rod Laver Tennis Center - October 2002 - Canon IXUS V
Fitzroy Gardens - August 2003 - Canon IXUS V
The Cricket Grounds with the expansion underway - September 2004 - Canon IXUS V
Lovely series of beautiful city !!! It will be in my bucket list. Thank you for sharing, Ron. Shang.
We enjoyed perfect weather when we visited. Loved Melbourne. Spent 4 days there, wish we had spent more.
Lovely tour, Ron, thanks for sharing.
My wife accompanied me on one of my trips to Australia where we visited both Sydney and Melbourne (I was meeting with customers in both cities). We started in Sydney and over the weekend, we did the normal tourist stuff, like the Zoo, the Opera House and what I, being an engineer, considered the high point, the Power House Museum. While we enjoyed Sydney (I had been there several time before), when we got to Melbourne, my wife fell in love with the city. While I was in my meetings she got a pass for the trolley system and really got to see the city up close, despite the fact that it was Winter (that visit was in August 1997) and it was a bit chilly. She also discovered that Opals were cheaper in Melbourne than what she had found in Sydney

Lorraine & I have been away for 9 days, a holiday in Melbourne. We went over on the Overland, the train that runs from Adelaide to Melbourne and also does the return journey.
We stayed in a hotel on Swanston Street, I think the prettiest street in the city. No car traffic, only trams.
Not being able to walk far, we made big use of the trams which are free in the city.
And surprisingly for Melbourne, we had lovely weather...

This must be the cleanest city in the world! It looks as if the residents spend a lot to maintain it as a point of pride. Your picture of the World Heritage building is the most symmetrical, balanced, images I’ve seen. Is there a worn patch in the side walk or grass where you stood to take it?
Yours is a most impressive set. You and the residents of Melbourne make excellent travel ambassadors, Thanks for sharing.
