My Opinion

In my opinion Photoshop CC is the best editing program out there. All the other full editing programs try to copy a parts of editing that Photoshop introduced previously. The newer 3rd party programs try to do it differently and easier if possible but not necessary better. IMO

Having said that you can learn Photoshop from looking inside a book or going on line watching videos. When I first started out you had to learn by the book YouTube's was not around. I didn't get very far with the books. I learned so much faster with YouTube and the many informative videos specific to the area I am having a problem with at the time. I also go to youTube to learn the newest features of a new updated Photoshop version.

I said all that just to give a purpose for the attached image. This is a version 5 Photoshop book hard to get into just to difficult to understand at the same time trying to stay awake. Maybe this young man can do it.

When I first saw it I assumed another story - young man getting into the world of books, which is of course a source of enlightenment. Whatever the story, it's an excellent composite.

I can sympathise with your "trying to stay awake" sentiment. I even have the same problem with videos. People taking ten minutes to say something that could have been said in three. Or ten minutes of non-informative intro that could easily have been left out. (Is ADD age-related? lol).

Immediately I thought Income tax. Yes, an excellent composition, it tells an immediate story in the eye/mind of the viewer; a very universally reactive image requiring no specific subject or language... the image speaks to all.

"The newer 3rd party programs try to do it differently and easier if possible but not necessary better. IMO"

Well yes, perhaps, but PS's Swiss army knife "do everything" has turned many off to photo editing. Simpler, low one time cost, editing programs with plugins do thing with a click and tweaking of sliders. Schick Razor said it well, "Push Pull Click Click, It is just that quick."

Why go thru 20 steps using PS when a plugin will do the task quickly and skillfully; a bundle purchased for the price of a years subscription to PS. Answer, because it is an ego thing... climb the mountain to get to the other side rarely, vs taking the tunnel to the other side daily.

having a source of reading that makes you sleepy is a valuable thing that you can use if you are having a hard time falling asleep.

The secret to learning: PS Books, videos, tips from friends and most of all long hours at the keyboard trying to apply what you have learned. IMO either LR or PS are relatively easy to learn. As far as I can tell mastering Photoshop is a lifetime task although you have come closer than most.

If I had to name that wonderful picture it would be "Descent into Calculus". Like Isaac Asimov my dreams died it that class.

Thanks Jack. I too believe photoshop is a lifetime task. There are so many ways to do the same thing and once in a while when I see a new technique I find it's a much better approach.

Maybe I should not have been so curt. I love the composite and I was amazed by your lighting. It really works!
