Aphids and ants have a relationship I believe the aphids excrete a substance that the ants eat

Yes a sweet liquid, some ants farm them, they touch two apendices in back of aphid with antennas to milk them
Amazing photos, however pity plants, they suck sap

I have never seen them on native desert plants in the Sonoran Desert. They are a problem on ornamental plants, especially roses

Very well done! I am enjoying your pictures. Aphids secrete plant sap,and the ants lap it up. In return, the aphids get protection. However, they have lots of enemies. In the last picture you can see a couple tiny white ovals near the top. Those are eggs of a Syrphid fly. They will hatch out, and the carnivorous fly larva will eat the aphids. They also have parasitic flies and wasps. Aphids give live birth, and with some patience you will see that happening since they produce babies at an amazing rate.
Always drama when it comes to aphids.
Very good stuff!
