I would put the card in a home computer and look for odd files that are non-canon type files and delete them. Format the card in the computer. Should be fine to go in the camera.

Where are you getting info that a computer format will work in a camera?
I would never think about doing that.

You might also consult an astrologer to see if Jupiter was aligned with Venus when all this occurred. That could explain a lot!

You do realize Venus and Jupiter were very close in the sky last week.

That may explain all the hysterical suggestions to trash the card without doing some at least semi-intelligent investigation. Responses to this situation have raised blood pressures almost as the purchase of a gray market camera in a nearby discussion.

If this can't be brought under control, this forum may need to be flagged as potentially dangerous to old people.

I haven't heard anyone suggest that. But the computer is capable of doing some diagnostics on the card that the camera isn't. Then it will take maybe 20 seconds to format it in the camera before using it.

One day 2 weeks ago, they were about a moons diameter apart in the western sky after sunset.
I was going to photograph it but couldn't decide if I should use a protective filter ir not, Lol

I ran into a minor issue with reformatting an SD card in my Canon R7. It wouldn't format. I put it into the R7's other slot, and wouldn't format there, either. I put a different SD card into the R7 and it formatted fine. Next, I put the non-formattable card into my Canon 7d II and it formatted fine there. I moved that card back into the R7 and it formatted fine. I've put that card aside. What do you think - problem solved, or Don't Trust That Card!

You probably have solved the problem.
Just mark the card, permanently, and do not use it for a $$$ photoshoot.
Since I stopped upgrading cameras to larger file sizes I have about 20 SD cards randomly in use since 2018. A couple of false starts (formatting) but no failures in use (including the washing machine test).

Agree! Re-format to the same FAT as the working card in your computer. Might try a complete format. I would not use that card for mission critical shots moving forward.

The couple of times I had card issues I did a full format on the computer, then formatted it again as soon as it went back in the camera.

I was going to format it in your computer and then try to format it in the camera. Take pictures with the card and see how it works. Format it again in the camera and take more pictures.

Some ideas -

I wouldn't trust it.
Had that happen a while back and pitched it into the garbage.

With a 128 card under $30 just get rid of it or look into warranty if it's not too old

One possibility is a bad connection. I would attempt to clean all connecting pins in both the camera and the card. By reinserting it you may have "wiped" the contacts clean but I would try to clean them anyway.

99% isopropyl alcohol (not rubbing) and a coffee filter works great for degreasing...

It's not easy to find that. Most bottles contain just 70% isopropyl alcohol.
