Very nice Vicki - looks like you and the R7 are going to become good friends.

I've had the camera for over 2 weeks and have passed the "return for full refund" time limit. I guess it's mine. I need to spend time each day playing with settings until they become second nature.

Nice set, Vicki. I think you'll do just fine with your new equipment.

Thank you, Ken. There's so much to learn with all of the changing technology. It's hard to keep up.

Same bird, different pose and cropped more on one than the other. The lens is a prime and doesn't zoom. Thanks for taking time for this post. I appreciate it.

My pleasure.

On closer look, I can see a slight difference in the angle of the bird's head.

I thought perhaps the camera could do a digital zoom, I knew the lens couldn't zoom. But I don't know much about your camera: some cameras do zoom, others don't.

Good point. I’ll have to investigate a little more.

Without going into the sad details of the tragic loss of two lenses and a camera body, I am in the process (aka learning curve) of playing with a Canon R7 with, in this case, a Canon 800mm f/11 prime. It's not a fast lens, but it seems to be performing reasonably well for what it is. I bought an adapter so I can use my other lenses on the mirrorless body.

The following trial shots are from the R7/800mm combo and were hand held. The orchid was taken with the ISO set at 3,200, but didn't seem particularly noisy.

This is a very good group. I use that lens, and I think it does well in good light; however, it is sometimes more lens than I need with some subjects.

Nice set. What is the difference between the first and second pics? Is the first a digital zoom or crop?

Your lens and camera seem to do well together. Thanks for sharing.

In her second photo Vicki caught the bird with its head turned more counter-clockwise than the first.

Great set. Looks like that long reach 800mm is working well for you.

Please give us the name of a camera that zooms.
