When asked about my heritage, I usually reply that I am a pure breed mongrel. 
I am an adopted Irish.
Also adopted Italian, Sicilian and Florentine. Adopted Illeneh, of the Mississippi Nation. And a sliver of several cultures by virtue of involvement. On my Special Other, I will say by marriage, Scot, Irish, Welsh, English, and a bunch of others.
By birth I am Alsatian. Half Ukrainian, half Mordvin, by parentage.
Ergo mongrel.
In my mind, heritage is part and parcel of who we are to ourselves. It is within us.

I spent a week playing some of the renowned golf courses along the south west coast. Old Head was spectacular. Did the Cliffs of Moher - magnificent!
