He sure makes it look sooo easy... Good shot!
Wish my twisty grained oak would could cut that easy. Its often a real pain to just split!

GREAT timing! You've caught the action at the moment of impact. Chips still in the air give the image a "stop action" caught at the perfect moment. The message on his shorts kicks hell out of Stihl's "made in America" campaign.

Thanks. I get these sorts of action shots quite easily. It's just a matter of watching and timing the action, and also using burst mode. Out of a few bursts of this bit of action I think I caught two shots with the flying chips in the frame.
As for "Made in America" Stihl, like most things it's probably all "Made in China" these days.
The
American Teslas we have in New Zeland are "Made in China", for example.

Oak would be a lot harder than this log I'm sure, which I imagine is just pine. Pine is pretty soft, some people call it a weed.

Really nice shot, I’m sure that axe isn’t the same steel that I can purchase at the local Home Depot. Looking at the bark and core color I’ll guess it is one of the many varieties of eucalyptus.
Wonderful shot. Long ago "Wild World of Sports" among other, used to televise Lumberjack contests
Nice capture. Great timing
