He's a handsome fellow and that's a nice shot.
Actually, Elk hunters call those baby bulls Rag Horns. Sub mature bulls that won't breed for two more years in a normal Elk herd!

I agree but it still doesn't detract from it being a great shot. The largest elk with the largest rack that I have ever seen was in Douglas County in Colorado. It looked like he had a small tree on his head. And his rack easily went a foot and a half past his rear when he tilled his head back. And he crossed a two lane road in two steps and not at a run. I only wish I had got the name of the man I saw photographing him. I didn't have a camera at that time and I only saw this elk one more time after that. Every time I see a shot like this brings back that memory of that magnificent beast that I did not get. At least someone else got a good shot.

Yeah, I don't think there is anything more majestic than a big Bull Elk.
The biggest one I have ever seen was in California, believe it or not. He was an eight by nine point with one broken tine. He had a harem of about twelve cows and the satellite bulls were bugling all night, hiding in the trees and hoping to lure a cow out of the herd for a liaison.
And, yes, the OP had a very nice shot. I should have pointed that out!
