Having both a Nikon d850 and a d500 - why?

I have d850 and a Z50 and could go on forever why but weight obvious-when hiking od doing aerial photography or traveling far Z50 best choice; when creating 3x4 foot metal photoprint love d850. When I work in remote villages in Africa or Asia prefer my pocket camera Panasonic Lumix.

Your zfc is a newer D500
Same pixel count and same frame rate.
Zfc video is far superior.
So you have duplicated the zfc with a much older D500.
The only thing is the zfc doesn't work with the screw drive lenses. But your D850 does and in crop mode matches the pixel count of the D500 and zfc so the D500 again becomes redundant.
Your choice.

Jerry: Fabulous collection! I feel much better now about my twenty, though I recently built seven lap dulcimers and bought five more. I see that you also have a taste for KoAloha ukes. I love their sound!

Alas, there's a bit more of the camera collectors in the community than shooters. Or maybe, just some weird attachment disorders to cameras they no longer use.

If the Zfc is a new D500 to you, then you should just feel free to buy whatever camera happens to strike your fancy. There's so much more to cameras than frame rate and pixel count.

I don't know.
I have some old unused cameras that have no resell value so I keep them and look at them.
The R system has totally revived my collection of R, FL and FD lenses though.
Not a lot of them but glad I kept them along with a couple of old non AI Nikkors that went with my F.

The best answer is "because." I don't ask myself questions like that, like, "Why do I have 134 ukuleles?" Since there is no logical answer, I don't think about it. As with the rest of life, you just have to learn to accept the way things are.

WOW 134, you would have made Author Godfrey jealous.

Having both I really like the extra reach of the D500

I use the D500 for telephoto work. I use the D850 for normal and wide angle work. The D500 being a crop sensor gives better reach with longer lens than the D850. They are both fine cameras.

It works for me!

Cameras are like women... whatever feels good in your hands.

There I said it. The misogynistic pig I am.

Let the charbroiling begin.

Lens availability, variety, and reach. Weight. 21mp vs 45mp. 4 image ratio's vs 1 to choose from. Faster MPS.

I like, and identify with, your answer best, Jerry. If I were younger than you, I might ask if I could be included in your will for one or two.
