Driving into town yesterday, I saw a new fast food burger place - Moonburger. Combining the slang term "moon, and mooning," why would that add that to something we eat?

Make your own burgers at home. Buy good quality (choice or prime) chuck or sirloin. They are better and you'll know "what's in them".

Definitely! "What's in them" is essential. Top it with tomato, onion, and ketchup.

In the 1950's, there was a restaurant by the name of Wally's which had a Moon Burger. It was copied off the Big Boy double-decker, but a much better burger. Mom and dad used to take us there on Saturday's. He also served shoe-string fries, which was the first time I had them. Eventually he retired, and the recipe and name was bought by a larger restaurant by the name of LeAnna's.

Wally's Moon Burger had some of the toppings of the Big Mac, but with tomato.

Fond memories.

My wife and I do that. We only buy certified organic grass-fed beef. It is a bit more expensive but as you say "what's in them" is important. I know some think organic is a myth, but we buy from a local farmer we trust.

For sure! A homemade and dressed burger wins every time in the flavor contest!

Totally agree… have done that for many years. However, due to my wife’s serious medical issues (and radical dietary changes to keep her around longer) we have switched to turkey burgers. We found a certain brand, and % numbers, that yield a good burger. Surprisingly, I think they are even better than beef if each is re-heated … we often grill for more than 1 meal. We also like to grill some onion slices to include on the burger.

No idea about Moon Burgers. My go-to is a local Whataburger. My desires are simple: well done meat, lettuce, and yellow mustard.

Organic is not a myth. Except for salt & water everything we eat is organic.

FYI, Beck's Prime in TX make much better burgers than I can cook at home. Great fries too.
