An interesting objet obscura to be sure. Would love to see the work involved in determining the piece of wood to be Myrrh tree and the reputation.

When I saw the "rock" back in 1980s, I wondered the thought of the carver. "We, being surrounded by angry and armed locals, have to carve the date on the Rock? The year will be just fine enough!"

Many have voiced disappointment once they see "in real life". At the time I was there, one person made such comment. I had to remind them that we were standing on the rock. That we were looking atop a mountain of rock.

PS., I hope the carver was not yelled at for contracting the date in the carving.

Apparently myrrh trees are not very tall.
