The SCOTUS decision South Dakota v. Wayfair Inc., allows states to require sales tax be collected and remitted without resorting to the old "use tax" programs.

I always use my payboo credit card for instant saving.
I remember NYC going to NJ IKEA and looking for NY plates in their parking lot
Love B and H selection

There are a few camera stores closer to me than Allen's, which I have been to, and they all charge 6% sales tax. I don't need a sales person to tell me what I already want. At Best Buy in north Delaware, I place my order online and go pick it up. On a $2700 lens that's a considerable savings on sales tax.

Order your camera gear online or over the phone from Allen's and have it shipped out-of-state from Pa. and see if they charge you sales tax. They won't. As a pro of over 50 years in the business, I have shopped at B&H and Adorama for decades, but Allen's is by far the best mom and pop camera store with the best customer service. I have moved to Texas away from the PA/NJ/DE area, but I still shop with Allen's, over the phone or online.

Cheers

Yes just ridiculous Best Buy restocking fees.

You have Sami's in LA, or closer, which has everything and more.

Yes Sam's is one of the best on the West Coast.

You state there are two independent camera stores near you. Both apparently are within a 30 minute drive for you. You are fortunate.

Actually, I was just made aware of a THIRD camera store in my area (less than a 30-minute drive from me. So, yes, very fortunate.

Actually, Samy’s. Two locations within a 45-minute drive. No bargains, no “deals”, but they have literally everything that every major manufacturer makes. All in one store.

Lol, I meant Samy's.

Getting older and having typos more often, and shopping too much at Sams Club, LOL
I have been there in LA at the S. Fairfax location, when Samy's held a Sony event.

Cheers

I know that store. A great store if you're looking for high-end telescopes and stuff. But I just didn't get a good "vibe" from being there. Wasn't all "warm and fuzzy", if you get me.

Last time I was at the Fairfax store was when they had "Nikon Day". That was at least five years ago. I don't believe they've had one since.

The Sony day I attended at the Fairfax store was back in 2021 around the time of the Sony A1 release. I would imagine they have had a Nikon day since the release of the Nikon Z9, but I dont know for sure.

Cheers and best to you.

Before I attended the "Nikon Day" I went to, there were all kinds of notifications on Facebook and social media about the event. I have not seen any such thing in the years since. If they did have these events since then, I was not aware.

Yup! I used to shop at Fry's Electronics store frequently. About 2 years ago, Fry's went belly up. Can Best Buy be far behind?

I don't think Best Buys would go belly up like Fry's but they may close a lot of stores. They do well online. For cameras you can buy just about any models online but in the stores they have very few models on display.

I've dealt with them for 15 yrs. I've bought and my telescope club have never had any issues with them and bought thousands if dollars there. Remember as a retail store they have been under tremendous pressure competing with some giants. Big supply chain issues like everyone.
