Passing close over our home.

WOW! Great capture.
Thanks. At this speed of about 200~250 mph (I think, could be slower) their base is only 10-12 minutes south. If in a rush it’s in a flash and you’d never get a shot.

Absolutely amazing.
Wonderful shot, thank you for sharing
I had one come up behind me, fly by very slow, pilot waved then proceeded on to land at Luke AFB.
We’re about 13 miles off the end of Luke’s runway, and the F-35’s are noisier; faster (by the time I hear them, they’re disappearing dots and too high). Maybe if I wait outside with the camera already zoomed in I could catch one before his sound catches up… nice job on th F-15’s!👽
The sights and sounds of freedom!

Yeah at speed I wouldn’t have had a chance. These are part of the 173rd Fighter Wing from Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They are from the Oregon Air Guard.
This was part of a July 4th multi destination series of fly by events over central and SW Oregon. The flight plan was published with estimated arrival times. So with some planning and recon on my part I lucked out. They did come from a bit east of my own estimate but I got lucky as they turned slightly west and almost right over me.
The longest lense I own is a Nikon 300mm f4; so I used a 1.4tc, put it on effective f5.6, chose a shutter speed, auto ISO and prayed. So some skill and a very large dose of good fortune came to fore. It was great fun but brief for sure.
These aircraft are being gradually replaced with the last version of the F15 (EX) from other bases and long term will be retired. In the mean time Kingsley remains an integral part of the Indo Pacific command. We’re glad to have them.
I love watching these guys.
