The only one. All by himself. I guess that he was hanging out with a bunch of willets.

I love trying to catch these guys doing there thing.
Great catch TopCat. Was that shot in the Bay Area? I lived in and around the BA the first 50 years of my life and never saw on there
They nesting yet? Great capture.

Good shot, topcat!
Thank you, Chief. I was watching this guy for a long time and he was doing nothing but hanging out with the Willets. Just once did I see him doing anything. I had the good luck of being with a couple of birders that yelled that he was skimming.
After searching for him, I grabbed a couple of shots of him working.
He is the only one up here, the first that I have seen.
It sure helps when you are with people that know what they are doing.

Yes, but that is harder than it looks. These guys spend a lot of time just sitting around.

Yes, it was, at the restored wetlands in Alameda. I saw him standing there with the other shorebirds, and a birder pointed him out. I have since seen him in one other location, but this is the only time I have seen him do anything other than sit there. I don't think this is in their normal range, at least checking on the internet it doesn't look like it is. And he is alone.
