Pair my iPhone 11 to Canon EOS RP

Have been trying to pair the Canon EOS RP with my iPhone 11 without any success. Have followed the instructions in several YouTube videos, the RP book by David Busch, and the Canon instruction manual. Keep thinking I am missing a step, but can't figure out where. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what was your solution?

I was able to do it with my R5, as I recall it took a few different tries to get it to connect, the instructions in the app were a bit unclear and it was so long ago that I did it that I don't really recall the steps involved but my suggestion is to keep at it.

To operate his camera remotely, focusing and shooting using your phone. Your phone becomes your viewfinder you can also review your images remotely.

Want to be able to put the camera on a tripod and control some functions while sitting, especially at night. Am 81 and getting difficult for me to stand and walk around. And then again, just getting lazy. The camera paired with the BR-E1 remote shutter release.

Now the remote shutter release won't work. Gonna give it a rest and come back fresh another day.

Did you put the camera in the timed shutter release mode?

I see that t here's a Canon Camera Connect and a Canon Connect and Control. The former has 2 stars and the latter has 4 stars. which one are you recommending? Certainly NOT the 2 star one???

I did mine a couple of years ago, it did seem that there were two apps at the time but only one was available for download. If I were downloading it today I would first try the Canon Connect and Control, it sounds like it is an updated version of the app. Personally I only use it for landscapes so all I was interested was the remote function of the camera and I am good with the app I currently have.

I would only use it for taking pics of birds at a feeder perhaps. with my luck a damn crows would land on the camera and knock the F...ing thing over.

I only use it when shooting with ND filters, batteries have never been a problem, I am shooting an R5 and use the EVF which chews up batteries anyway. When I go out for a day of shooting I always carry 4 batteries with me, two in the camera and two in the bag. As far as the phone goes, not a problem.

This is the app I am trying to use for pairing.
