Brought several recollections to mind. I climbed the stairs up to the fiftieth floor of the building under construction at the time. The core was complete, but the exterior was yet to be put in. I got a great view of North Chicago going from the building northward. Did not have camera with me though because of the items I had to deliver took both hands.

Good areal view of Navy Pier. I remember when it was run by the US Navy, with a destroyer parked on the south side of the pier. Even remembered Old Silversides, the submarine!

The Chicago Water Tower marked the edge of Lake Michigan when it was built. It is basically a standing water pipe in the center, to provide pressure to move water into the city.

One view well remembered were of the Playboy bunnies running up and down the Oak Street Beach area. They were in great shape to watch. (And great to talk to!)

Great presentation and shots.

Thank you Stephan! Isn't that blue-topped building in the foreground before Navy Pier the old Playboy Building? Navy Pier is now widely touted as the #1 tourist attraction in all of Illinois.

Interesting pictures. Do you have any that are just of the water tower? I always thought it was sort of pretty - as buildings go.

Wow, Paul. Congratulations on climbing 1625 stairs without stopping and passing many other climbers. That was demonstrating some Olympic athlete aerobic capacity. Wow. (It deserved two “wows”)😊 Loved the view from the top.

Thank you Joe! They're saying online the record is in the 10-minute area. The last time I did this, I was 26:55, so getting away from the computer of late seems to be paying off.

Thank you Kathy! I was reminded Sunday morning it's now been a few years since being down around the Hancock Tower and the Water Tower. I'll want the evening temps to improve, but I did make a mental note to get back from some evening shots. Here's something old.

Thank you ejfin, Elliott! The pocket camera isn't much more than the phone size and travels along easily.

Excellent photographs Paul and thank you for doing that. When I first started reading your narrative I considered the climb might be on the outside of the building. I am glad it was on the inside and still an ordeal I can imagine.

Thanks Dennis! It's been a while since I've been a tough guy outside. The gear check to the start line included a few minutes in the 30F temps going around the corner from one building to the next. I was dressed for an indoor climb, not outdoors.
