Ta-Da-Dump....
....ta-da-dump, ta-da-dump-dump-dump. Or, to be exact, a little past the --O My Heck! the Not Even Open!-- gate at the town dump, up along the road to Sand Flats. It wasn't that I'd gone to dump anything, --though I suppose I could've if the town dump had still been open late yesterday afternoon and if I'd needed to dump something, but it wasn't and I didn't-- it was instead that I needed something from the Mom & Pop store a quarter mile from home, and I figured that if I was going to go to all the effort of putting shoes on and such, I'd take a camera along, 'cuz y'never know, y'know? Got around the corner and about the time the local Mom & Pop came in sight, I noticed that the mountains weren't looking too bad, so I decided that instead of going to the nearby Mom & Pop, I'd drive all the way across town --gotta be three or four miles!-- and get what I wanted over at Dave's (Corner Market). And since Dave's is along the way to the town dump (and Sand Flats, and the mountains, where I might've gone if I'd left home earlier or my belly hadn't been rumbling), and the town dump was so close, and the mountains were beginning to get a little rosy-colored, and I had a camera.... well...........
The heart wants what the heart wants. And so does the belly.

Beautiful scene, er capture!
OK, so Mom and Pop got screwed. Did Dave see any benefit from your dithering? It's obvious that UHH did!

I figure it's better to spread the wealth (and yup, I do mean 'the wealth' because the Mom & Pop stores all charge 2x more for stuff you'd normally get at the grocery store) around, so (depending on what I want or where I might be in or around town) why fill the coffers of one when you could fill the coffers of all? As well, I've got some 'history' with folks at some of these local 'M&P stores' (e.g., rather than sticking an ad in the local paper or whatever, the owners of the of the Mom & Pop closest to me let me use their parking lot as a sort of used car lot when I wanted to sell my previous Jeep, and lo and behold, their daughter was the one who ultimately bought it; Dave [who'd been town Mayor for a dozen years] of Dave's Corner Market has been a friend for 30+ years, and apart from always treating me as a regular human being and always calling me by name [even back when I was a nobody dirtbag Seasonal Ranger] when we'd run into each other, when I was still 'new-ish' around here, and was contemplating getting my first computer, he invited me over to his home so I could poke around with his.
And now that I'm a retired multi-bazillionaire loaf-around townie, I like to spread the wealth. I think it's the Druids --or is that Moose and/or Elk Lodge members?-- who call that 'comes around/goes around' stuff 'Karma' or 'Dharma' or something like that. And me being a wannabe Taoist/Druid impersonator, with hopes of getting into Valhalla (relatively) unscathed, Mom & Pop's get equal patronage from me.
Well, good on ya, Cany! That's a great attitude!
I wish I had known that a regular person could retire from being a Park Ranger as a multi-bazillionaire (heck, I would have been good as a single bazillionaire). Maybe I would have taken a different path in life!
Just so you know...Valhalla is WAY over-rated! Getting scathed to get in would NOT have been worth it! After a couple thousand years, I was bored to tears!! It's GOOD to be back in the land of the living!
Help me out here. So were you going to the dump because you needed something to eat?
Beautiful photo.

I wouldn't phrase it quite like that, tc. Makes it sound kind of desperate. Big difference between 'needing something to eat' and being merely 'in the mood for a snack', y'know? Does that help?
As always, one more magnificent image.
