My Toolbox

Amazon lists a great toolbox, 20 1/4" long, and it used to sell for $18. I have several of them, and I wanted one more. The price has gone from $18 to $27. "Portable Tool Box, 20-1/4 In. W, Gray" Amazing. Now I'm looking for others, but it will be 16", rather than 20".

There's a Craftsman with two latches for $22 or with one latch for $17. I've had a metal Craftsman with one latch for over sixty years, and it works fine. That $17 box looks good. I prefer an actual metal clasp to those all-plastic clasps.

Speaking of toolboxes, I don't think I've ever used that tray that they always put on the top. It takes up some of the depth that I could use for tools. Occasionally, I'll put the tools I'm using into one to carry them easily.

On the other hand, I have a gift card for Lowe's. Umm.

EDIT: Lowe's has the same Craftsman toolboxes at the same prices. I'll drive in a take a look.

I've never been disappointed with a toolbox from Amazon, but it's nice being able to see it in person.

When I was in Canada(Vancouver) many years ago I bought some Craftsman tools,a 21 oz.claw hammer, and a miniature craft knife with retractable blade, thinking ahead. I bought 2packs of spare blades lncase I never returned and I haven’t up til now.good tools.

As it turned out, I moved things around, and I won't have to buy a new toolbox. I wanted one to store all my DeWalt batteries. I know, someone is going to tell me that it's dangerous to store a lot of batteries in a sealed box. 😉

I like the idea of one location for all the batteries, but I can guarantee that when I need a battery, I won't be able to find the box. Also, I can keep them in the house. It's 16° outside now.

"Store the battery in a cool (40°F to 60°F), dry area on a plastic or wood (not metal) shelf."

"Do not store small batteries in pillboxes or along with other medication." 😂

This is nice, but too expensive. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09QHG97MK?pd_rd_i=B09QHG97MK&pf_rd_p=b000e0a0-9e93-480f-bf78-a83c8136dfcb&pf_rd_r=GR35AHA4MGRMN7ENAFKD&pd_rd_wg=AyWlH&pd_rd_w=vpO02&pd_rd_r=c846aab5-d4ed-4598-9d89-c8f6465b8c3c

I have given away all my metal toolboxes except for one large one. I prefer canvas bags. They fold down when not needed and have pockets inside to organize what you put in them. I have a smaller one and one large enough to carry hand tools including a battery drill with an extra battery. My main toolbox is unmovable. It likely weighs 200 or more lbs. unloaded. It stands about 5 ft. high. It is a repurposed IBM card file and has 16 drawers labeled with things like hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, etc. If we ever sell this house, it remains as there is no way I would move it!

I haven't been to the new one in Kingston. I don't trust myself not to leave empty-handed.

When I was working I left the tool boxes in the van and used a large bucket best toolbox ever.
