I was watching a how to video on Lightroom masking and they were showing how to apply a filter then use the Range Masking feature to adjust it. I don't have Range Masking option and can't seem to find it.

I am using W11, Lighroom Cc version 12.2
I am editing a raw file
I apply a Linear Filter and make an adjustment - say exposure
I then look for the Range Mask to be able to adjust the filter but it does not show

What am I missing?

This is what is missing

I don't know what video you are watching, but in no case do I see a Range Mask as you have detailed it...however, you are using the term 'filter' (within the Develop Module) which isn't something stated in LR - in PS, it is indeed used.

I have the same PC OS and LR version as you.

Can you tell us what video you got this information from?

Here are a couple of links to explain it:

But I think I finally found where they put it in the new version...see attached photo.

Now you have introduced a whole new set of problems - ones I continue to deal with about every time I use these wonderful programs. How, I ask myself, does this damn software work?

Perhaps it is akin to when you finally caught the mice in the shed - now what do I do with it?

Good luck and above all - have fun.

I’ve never seen it as a direct adjustment to a mask. Once you create you linear gradient mask on the mask pop-up you click either “add” or “subtract” and choose range mask there.
