Squam Lake Ice Harvest 2023

While not a work of art, I have developed a relationship with a local weekly paper. The owner and I are long time friends and he has used my photographs and written stories in the past.
I am trying to develop a working relationship with the paper. I like very much his style of publishing. He looks for local things that are history related. I did a story with him a few years ago about the US Mail Boat that services the islands around our large lake Winnipesaukee.

This was my first time covering the Ice Harvest, something I have been putting off. I decided to do it this year. I have other projects in mind and will be working with the paper to develop good stories of interest.

Enjoy the article. It is interesting...

BTW I got to shoot this with my new/used Nikon D850... I added the originals for you to enjoy...

Bob

Thank you. A very interesting retreat for those who want to experience "the way it was."

I heat our home mostly (95+%) with self cut/split firewood, so I do know a little(?) of "the way it was"... but like your group I do use a gas saw, lol. It is indeed hard work but I enjoy doing it, and it is good exercise.

Nice work. I wish I was as talented at that sort of photography. My talents lay in pointing a camera at a tree and clicking the shutter.
