Carbonite issue

I happened to check and determined that my Carbonite backup was over 100 GB short. I called and found that if you want videos backed up, there is a process to ask for each type (.mov, .mp4, .flv, etc.) They did it for me and now all is OK. I thought y'all needed to know.

Are you referring to the addition of folders to their "normal" list of items, as in tagging additional directories/files as "Back this up also"? Been doing that since I got Carbonite.

Or is it something different.

Not folders, video files wherever I have them, even mixed with stills. And YES, it was necessary to tag the extension "Back this up also"

Now that's interesting.
Even if one says backup this <video> folder, one must STILL explicitly tag each video file IN THE FOLDER as "Back this up".
However it WILL backup any non-videos in/added to that folder......
Just tagging the folder is not sufficient. Oie.

Thanks for the heads up! I had a bunch of home movies transferred to digital. I must check them now! I'll bet they don't have the green dot!

We didn't say backup this folder, we said backup files with this extension. I'm not sure I can tell you how that was done. We did a search for the extension, clicked properties, then said back it up.

Yea, you have to explicitly do the videos. Like I said, if you say backup the videos folder, it still won't backup videos in that folder, but if there are .DOC, .TXT, etc. in the videos folder, it will back those up.

I have been using Carbonite for years and have only specified drives to backup and all files of all formats have been backed up.
