First Try at Long Exposure.
A few weeks back another member posted some night shots of the city near the beach. I took his advice and tried some of my own night shots. I had tried this same place before and had no luck, but then I was not doing it right. Because what I have learned from this Forum I was able to get these pictures of the 2 cement plants we have near us. I think hey look so pretty at night in person and I am happy with my results. I hope you enjoy as well.
Number 1- is the entrance into Cal Portland Cement and I think it's the best of the three. I had almost no post processing to add, all I did to it was deNoise and add a topaz filter just to get a little pop out of it.
Number 2- is the shovel that sits at the main road into the entrance of Cal Portland. I did have to do more PP to this one. I removed some power lines which ran through the photo. I had to straighten and crop and then I added a little pop from Topaz into it.
Number 3- Is LeHigh Cement (originally Monolith) which sits along side the 58 frw. I was on a service road next to the freeway and I was behind a barbwire fence. I had to remove a pound in post which stuck up right in the middle of the picture. I added the deNoise and pop to it. The streaks of light are the lights from cars and trucks passing by.
1. Cal Portland Cement Enterance
2. Shovel
3. LeHigh Cement.
I agree with you.......I love how #1 turned out. It almost looks like a fantasy scene. I think you've got it! I hope you had fun while you experimented with different time settings etc.

Yes I was having fun, I got so side tracked and worried my husband because I arrived to dinner about an hour later than I had expected.
I think I will keep a spare set of tennis shoes in my car too, for such photo opps. I was on the way home from work that night and I found out heals and tromping around in sage brush don't go hand and hand.

Absolute beautiful picture #1 is by far the best.

Thank you Rich I have to agree with #1. I think it has the best focus. I liked the shovel in it's natural position but I had to straighten it and that took away from the composition I believe. I plan to go and try the 3 shot again from a different location soon. It will be further away and above the freeway so I will have to zoom in with the 300 mm pray the wind isn't blowing, and I hope to get it better focused.
