I have enough points on my American Express to get an iPad or an, mini. No specific plans for either. Anyone have an opinion
can you put remote camera controll on the mini
That is a very good question
If your going to go with a mini, why not go with an iPhone? I use an iPad 2 and love it but do not use it for any photography. I shoot raw and it can be cumbersome to put pictures on and remove from it also. Those little screens are tuff to view some items on! Just my thoughts , my husband has an iPhone and wants a mini, yet he has never picked up my iPad!
Can use live mode an adjust camera an snap picture as a wireless remote.

I use an apt called Dropbox to put pictures on my ipad2. Very easy to use.
Love my mini. Much easier to type on than the iphone(which I also love...). I don't make nearly as many typos. It's light enough to carry everywhere. For me it was a great choice.
Ditto Dropbox is the way to go to transfer photos to the IPAD
Have the new iPad (iPad 3) with retina display. Love it. In fact, I'm using it now. Like it so much that last week I bought an iPad mini just so I can put it in my purse or pocket and take it with me. I'm pleasantly surprised. I like the mini more than I thought I would. The screen is still pretty big, it's light, yet it's all iPad. And, it's a lot easier to type on than the iPhone.
You have a tough decision to make. At least whatever choice you make, you won't be wrong. They are both great!
One thing I don't like about moving pictures from my computer to my iPad is that it erases all the albums I have created and you sort of have to start with all photos in one folder including ones that just got erased.
Does moving pics from my computer through DropBox do the same or can I add just a couple pics to an already existing directory
Thanks
I have something the size of a mini (Google Nexus) and use it every day as an ebook reader.
If you want a wide variety of apps at low cost and free ebooks from a variety of sources go with the Nexus.
However, I do not know if you are a techie or not.
If you have a smartphone you'll have no problem.

I have an iPad and use it around the house. I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus with 4G and use it everywhere. It is smaller than the mini iPad, fits in my pocket, has a clear screen, a car bracket that turns it into a great GPS and plenty of aps. It cost 249 with a contract or 449 without. To me the purpose of a tablet is portability. The iPad and iPad mini are too big to really go everywhere. We have a 10 inch Galaxy Tab 2.0 also...much too big for portability.
