Colin was photographed as he accompanied The Sultan's Sirens, who were busy belly dancing in a woods - but I knew you wouldn't be wanting to see them, so I concentrated on the musician! Of course the effect is created in Ps. Not as 'loose' as watercolour effects you might be used to seeing on concept art forums but a style that suits me. Any thoughts on the result are welcome.
I love the high key look! He's a fascinating looking gentleman, with very cool clothing and instrument. I'm a tiny concerned that he appears to be barely balanced on his tiny stool, however

Yes, he was definitely a very cool guy Linda - and just floated there, feet up on the little stool!
You wanted a specific effect and you achieved it. My main concern would have been that you could have allowed the face to become too wishy-washy, but you seem to have avoided that mistake.

Yes, I think there are a lot that of possible pitfalls when using Ps filters - it’s too easy to get carried away RG! Most watercolour images I see have paint splattered everywhere, and I’m not sure any self-respecting watercolourist actually did that. Still, each to his/her own, the main thing is to enjoy doing it I guess. Thanks for your comments.
Maybe a little more texture in the background, otherwise nice job.

Think I’ll change the title to ‘Cool Colin’!

Well that would be the ‘standard’ treatment Fstop but my choice this time is plain paper. I wanted to avoid the obvious pp and stick to just the effect on the subject, but I don’t think you will be alone in preferring the ‘full Monty’ and you are probably right. Thanks for your comments.
I lingered over this one for awhile. Once again you have come up with something that you usually don’t present here on the Hog. Nicely done. The only thing, and it is a small thing. The one foot it appears as thou you didn’t finish “painting” in the foot. But I suspect that was a shadow on the original shot. And the PP process didn’t pick it up.

Lyrics from Little River Band's song
'Cool Change' "If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear water
There's lots of those friendly people
They're showing me ways to go
But I never want to lose their inspiration"
Time for a cool change.
Love the concept Dave.

Spot-on Frank, the foot shadow was a very stark contrast and part of the process I used saw that edge as a sharp line, hence the result you see. I quite liked that effect (and wasn’t enthused enough to do anything different!) so it stayed as is. A very good analysis you’ve provided!

I like the lyrics Dave, so would Colin!
Thanks for looking in, good to see you.
Darn, I wanted to see the Belly Dancers. A little too high-key for me.
