Good Morning, I actually live in Bradenton, So.....

Robinsons Preserve is a must see. On the Manatee Blvd causeway try Neal Preserve & Perico Preserve (Opposite each other on Manatee). DeSoto National Park is also very nice. Google maps shows some nice views and a good idea of where they are.

If you can take a little extra drive, my favorite place in Florida is "Bok Tower Gardens". https://boktowergardens.org The Tower is a Clarion (Bell Tower) that is played by a person throughout the day. The Gardens are amazing, and the music can be heard throughout the entire preserve.

Parking on the Gulf is a DISASTER right now. Heavy construction has most of the parking at Bradenton and Coquina Beach Closed. Go VERY early if you want any beach time. Be prepared for heavy traffic! (It took me over an hour from 75th to the Island last time I went out at 10:00 AM)

Enjoy your visit

Tarpon Springs is a charming fishing village and used to be the sponge capital of the US. St. Petersburg has the Chihulli (-5 for spelling!) museum that's photographically inspiring especially if you're into reflections. Selby Gardens in Sarasota. If you're up for a little drive, the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge is very worthwhile the trip.

Wags…. I’m currently in Bradenton until mid March. The traffic is already starting to jam up going to/from Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key. Normally what should take us 20 minutes at times can turn into over an hour. If going to the island get there early as traffic backs up Always check your apps for traffic b4 leaving In addition, be sure to bring Patience as a passenger …. Lol
Places of interest or photo stops in the Bradenton area include the Skyway Bridge just north of Palmetto, the south fishing pier area of the Skyway Bridge for good bridge photos
Emerson Point in Palmetto for hiking, biking and photos
Robinson Preserve ( 2 entrances—- north by blue house or south by the nest area) excellent for wildlife and landscape photos plus hiking and/or biking The south area has a cushioned walking trail plus several osprey nests and white pelicans and other Florida wildlife
Perico Preserve and Neal Preserve off Manatee near the island are excellent for photos and hiking too.
The Celery fields off Palmer road also provides excellent photo and and hiking opportunities at certain times of the year.
Myakka state park is still closed due to Hurricane damage
Venice Audobon rookery is a short drive away but wildlife is scarce due to hurricane
Circle Bar B preserve in Lakeland is excellent.
Anna Maria Island is great for beach, surf and sunset pictures. Be sure to take a lot of patience with you as it is a busy time. Be sure to visit Holmes beach and enjoy the evening music and atmosphere post sunset Grab a meal there also and eat with your feet in the sand. The Ugly Grouper is good but pricey.
Longboat Key is an interesting drive to St Armand’s circle in Sarasota a number of stops afford good photo opportunities. St Armand’s affords photo, shopping and eating everywhere
Sarasota’s bay front also affords the chance to photograph the famous kissing sailor statue made famous from the end of WWll. Also plenty of marina shots plus skyline photos
The Ringling Museum affords senior discounts on Mondays It’s well worth the time for photographers and artist alike.
Good area restaurants we enjoy include Riverhouse Waterfront in Palmetto, Woodys Roo in Ellenton near the outlet mall, Starfish, Tidetables, Cortez kitchen and Swordfish grill in Cortez just off Cortez rd. Ford’s restaurant complete with several Model A’s is near the UTC mall and offers a good selection of food and good shopping nearby Stottlemyers in Sarasota is excellent for BBQ and pork.
South Philly on 34th st near IMG Academy is excellent
As I said in previous posts and per Florida wildlife officers… wildlife previously seen is scarce this year is scarce this year due to hurricane damage.
Hope this helps a little and Enjoy your time in the area and relax.

I was at the Celery Fields 4 times over the past week and a half and Myakka River State Park a couple of times. It is open. I hit Circle B Bar Sunday morning on my way back home and it’s a fantastic spot for wildlife.
