This Male Great Egret has been displaying for about 2 weeks. The purpose of this display is to attract a mate. Now many females have landed right by him, in fact, they photo bomb us all the time. But he does not seem interested. So for now he is the unofficial greeter at Wokodahatchee Wetlands. We hope some day he may show some interest in the fairer sex.
I had to back up quite a bit on the board walk to get this shot because I was using my 600 prime. And most folks will stop instead of walking in front of me but I wave them on as I would have been shooting over them as my 6 ft. 3 in. frame puts me at an advantage sometimes.
Sony a1, Sony 600 f4 @ f4, 1/640 sec, iso 200, actually this shot was aperture priority (rare for me but the backlighting can be tricky, minus 1 on EV, hand held, center large spot focusing, 30 fps. Heavy backlite.

Very nice use of backlight. Good exposure in a situation that had to be challenging.

Aperture Priority is nice under some very tight conditions. But not for birds in the air, it will under expose every time because it reads that bright sky and says, STOP DOWN, STOP DOWN, and you get under exposed every single time.
So, again, I shoot manual most of the time because I shoot a lot of birds in the air, but this back lite scene called out Aperture Priority to me.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Beauty! 30fps= where are the other 99 photos? Never tried the A-Mode for wildlife. Maybe something to look into. Have fun!
