Mirror or mirrorless camera ... your experience and advice please

I have three cameras: full-frame Canon 6D Mark2; a C-MOS Canon SL2 with multiple lenses; and a Canon Powershot SX70 HS. The middle one, the SL2, I use mainly for travel because of it size and weight. It is several years old and in good working order but I am inclined for the replacement to be a mirrorless Canon. I do not seek a camera body that does everything for you like my old 5D Mark 3 did and I am not into vlogging so what are your thoughts on a replacement? I am looking for a C-MOS Canon body that can process images with the latest DIGIC processor and I note that there is a new Canon R80 and the EOS R50 both of which look very interesting. Your advice please.
The relative smallness of the SL2 will be compromised by the EF to RF adapter, if you don't go with native mirrorless lenses when selecting a replacement.
Canon seems to have given up on the EOS-M line, cropped, digital, mirrorless and interchangeable lenses. I believe the EOS M6-II was the final model in 2019.
The newest R50 might map in size to the EOS SL2, but you'd have to check the weight and size specs.
My advice is to find a store that have both and try them out. The viewfinder is the key difference.
Well, pretty much all of today's DSLR's and MILC's use CMOS sensors and have for many years. There is no Canon R80 but there is an R8. If you like your SL2's size, you may like the R50, which is the RF replacement for the M50. If you already have a 6D mk II, you already have a good Canon FF camera. Do you believe an MILC will allow you to get better images?
My daily shooters are a Canon R5 and R7. If you aren't interested in a camera like the R5, which is an excellent camera, and aren't interested in a crop sensor like the R7, the new R8 will do everything you are looking for. By the way, I use pretty much all adapted EF lenses on my R series camera bodies and they work great. Haven't had a single problem.

Put a pancake and wrist strap on the SL, stuff it in a pocket and be happy !!! Put a 10-18 in another pocket and hit the road.

thanks for your advice, particularly about the adapted EF lenses on the R series camera bodies. I have several EFers, in addition to only two for the 6D MK2 so that's one question I feel was well answered. About the camera body - I like the SL2 and when I travel it's a lot easier to carry and has been a good producer using my lenses. The question was and is ... looking for a camera body that's smaller and lighter than the 6D and you are right about it ... it has proven to be a good camera. I'm a sucker for taking photos in natural light indoors. The viewfinder on a mirrorless viewfinder doesn't bother me at all. I appreciate and value you opinion.

Are you getting good results with your current equipment? If you are, you will get no better images for travel by going mirrorless.

If the user doesnt get better images from an EVF then that user doesnt really know how to utilize the advantages it provides.
In good hands an EVF will result in better images than from an OVF. In the wrong hands a great Stradivarius will sound like creaking floor boards.
After being curious about mirrorless for a good long time, I bought the least expensive model I could find to test the waters. I figured if I didn't like it I could return it or sell it. My experience was such that my 2 DSLR's got no use after its arrival. The ability to see the exposure before taking the shot was worth the price of admission all by itself, aside from the many other advantages.

I just switched over to Canon from a Sony A6400 kit and purchased a Canon R10. I decided to stay with the cropped format, mostly due to cost. Another reason was the availability of a large inventory of used Canon lenses. With the RF/EF adapter, many great lenses, even Canon L lenses are readily available.
The R10 while somewhat of a beginner's camera is a great camera at a very good price. I purchased it with the 18-150mm zoom lens which has great reviews. So far I am not disappointed. Take a look if price is a consideration.

I just switched from a Sony a99II to a Sony a7Riv and the difference and weight was GREAT!
I did buy an adaptor so I can use the lens that I like and all things considered I'm extremely happy.
I switched to Canon R5. Had a large learning curve to work threw retired my SRL’s when I learned mirrorless system.

Hi, Paul, how compromising is the EF to R7 adapter?
Thank you,
Lind mike

From a functional standpoint: none
From size & weight, our OP would have to decide, as the discussion is replacing the smallest EF-S-mount EOS SL2.
