Question for X-T4 Camera Users

I just bought a used, “like new” X-T4 from MPB. It definitely looks new. I noticed that when the camera is off and I look into the view finder I see a faint orange glow to the screen with a brighter orange border. Is this normal for the X-T 4? I have an X-T2 and an X-S10 and neither view finder is like this, when the camera is off the screen is black.
Thanks
Rich

I also just bought an X-T4 from MPB (Germany) rated like new. I’ve just checked and no sign of light, orange or otherwise on the screen or through the view finder. I’d contact them.

Thanks for checking this out for me.
I did some additional testing and this faint orange glow on the viewfinder screen is apparent when I’m in a fairly lit area and when I go into a dark room it looks black. It’s strange the my other two Fujifilm cameras don’t exhibit this even when they are in well lit areas.

An additional note, thinking power was being applied to the viewfinder screen with the camera off, I pulled the battery out and the faint orange glow was still there in a lit area.

I’ll call MPB to see what they suggest.

Could it be light leaking of some kind? Before calling MPB, comb over Fujifilm forums and call Fujifilm support. If you don’t get answers you can live with, check your calendar to see whether you’re still within the “return” window.

Thanks Greyfox,
I called Fujifilm yesterday and explained the problem and when I told them that the viewfinder screen was black when I took the camera into a dark room but it had a faint orange glow in a lit room they didn't seem to be too concerned. And, that was it, end of conversation. Like I said before, my other two cameras, X-T2 and X-S10 do not exhibit this 'phenomena.' It doesn't appear to affect IQ from what I can determine after taking a number of photos recently. There has got to be some light entering into the viewfinder somewhere but I can't image where especially when I place my eye firmly against the eye cup.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
I performed another test just now. I have a large eye cup (egg shaped) that can encompass the entire eye. I just put it on the camera and before putting my eye close up to the cup, camera is off, I can see the faint orange glow in the viewfinder but as soon as I place my eye completely into the eye cup the view finder is completely dark. So, that tells me that the ambient light is entering in through the viewfinder and causing the viewfinder screen to illuminate. Is it that much more sensitive compared to my other two Fujifilm cameras?

Maybe the eye cups are different?

Rich, I shoot with an X-T3 (same sensor as the X-T4) and out of curiosity just looked through the viewfinder while it was a couple inches from my eye. I see the same orange phenomenon. It’s something I have never noticed nor has it ever affected any of my photos. Like you, I think it’s just the reflection of the ambient light. Hope this helps to ease your worry.

If it will bother you exchange it while you can. I have an XE2 and CPro2 and don’t have that.

Thanks for checking your camera. I feel a little better now that I’ve heard from someone else saying they are seeing what I’m seeing. I’m using a large eye cup now so when I put my eye to the viewfinder I’m blocking all the ambient light and, like you said, I don’t believe it affects my viewing in the viewfinder once the camera is turned on.
I really appreciate you checking.

Thanks for chiming in on my concern.
At this point I don’t think it will be a problem. I was just curious to hear back from someone saying that they see they same thing I’m seeing and that I probably don’t have a problem.

Just a thought, is the viewfinder larger on the X-T4 therefore allowing more light in? It’s not apparent on my X-T2 or X-S10.
