I have tried everyday to view what is new on this site, but seem to never get around to posting...today I will share a recent family portrait that I took for a friend. Used two umbrella strobes - manual setting ISO 200 - F5- 1/50sec.
My friend wanted something with white around the picture for Christmas cards..thus the post processing...I know that is not a favorite for many on this site but was a request...and I kind of like it ;)....What do you think Captain? Am I getting any better?
Feel free to comment...and YES I wish I had seen the goose at the top with his head cut off ugh....was consentrating on all those faces and missed this....thank you for all that post regularly...I enjoy your pictures and try to learn from you.

Your are right about the white vignette - it really does not work well on this image, but if that is what your friend wants, well, it's what he wants.

Pretty nice overall. If I had two things to improv, one would be to use cushions or pillows to vary the height of the four adults seated. Get the dad a bit higher and mom higher than the woman to her left, but not as high as dad.

The second would be to take the two "bookend" males and have them turn in toward the group, place their weight on the rear leg, and let the front leg bend just a bit.

I would have had the guy on the right get that cap off, but that's just me.

Those are pretty minor and I am sure your friend will love these.

Great idea with the pillows...will try to remember this...and as for the hat well I have never seen him without it...:) ....I did try to talk him into getting a bit closer and turning in but he did not stay that way...I am having better control of my groups now, but it is still not 100%...am getting there however ;)....thanks for your reply. I will use your advice about the bookend fellas next time...

I have three sessions for December, a pair of clowns who need new pictures to make business cards...now that should be interesting....my kids and grandkids yeah!...and three little girls and my husband as Santa...we will do the three little ones with my setup and then surprise them with Santa...am really looking forward to this one.
