Presumably the computer is smart enough to run the locos at their most fuel efficient throttle setting for the prevailing conditions.
Two great shots - thanks for posting. I wonder how many of those intermodals will end up in the yard in Mechanicville, NY - about 30 mi south of here and a favorite spot to go to watch the trains.
The second shot is spectacular and worthy of a spot in the Trains magazine photo gallery at the back of every issue.

I drove thru Bush CO some fifty years ago. At the time, the area was center of Sugar Beet production, and railroad sidings had lots of them; is that still true?
Not as much as previously but there is still beet production these days.
