I haven't made up my mind yet since having the extender for only 2 days. So far it looks promising.

My long lens is 100-400 f4.6-5.6 GM. In comparison, the 70-200/1.4X is lighter, has a fixed length (does not extend) and is 1 stop faster which should provide some advantage for the way I take bird images in my situation.
