Its the older push-pull version but remains one of my favorite and most used lenses. Dropped it a few inches and later noticed the focus limiter switch had popped off. Lens continues to focus and operate normally otherwise. Have tried re-attaching the switch but it doesn't stay on so just covered the gap with gorilla tape. Is there an easy trick to re-attaching the switch?

A call to Nikon might settle the issue. Not sure IF they would repair it, or the cost. Rick Riggins (on UHH) might be a better choice for something like this!
Look for a camera repair shop, in person or online. Get an estimate first. If parts are needed, you're probably out of luck. I bet Nikon wouldn't touch that.
I highly recommend Authorized Repair in Morton Grove Illinois. I have used them when needed for over 25 years and have always been pleased with the work and the cost.
There used to be a repair guy who would respond to posts like this. He repaired a flash for me. I don' recall his name.
