Worst title ever.
Northern green-striped grassopper, Chortophaga viridifasciata.

Antlion larva, Brachynemurus abdominalis. These are pretty sedentary, but they do not like not being underground so I had to chase after it with the camera.

Tumbling flower beetle, Mordella marginata. These little beetles belong to their own little family. They hang out on flowers, and when disturbed they curl up and quickly summersault to the ground.

Great set Mark. Love the Ant Lion larvae. I used to spend hours observing them along the foundation of the house.

Munching your array of photos while sipping my coffee, I reflected on the insects of my childhood living in the country in lower Michigan, mainly crickets and grasshoppers with the midsummer invasion of June-bugs. Close to earth stars were the Fireflies that we would put in a bottle.

Alain to me is Antlion larva, it has spent a lot of energy trying to look like a cactus covering itself with prickly spines. The sandpit traps it uses to capture prey have been copied by Sci-Fi movies in which people suddenly disappear. How could it think of and design such clever traps? Insects will popup in my memory throughout the day. Living in the sterile city environment grass patches saturated with insecticides and asphalt insects have become a rarity.

Great set Mark. As a kid I used to drop bugs, Ant Lions are not particular, into their cone shaped traps to watch the action. Do you happen to have a picture of the adult?

Likely the same species, since this was photographed in the same park.
