Please, We Implore You, Don’t Try to Shoot The Balloon. It's Really High Up Actually

Conservatives are fantasizing about shooting down the alleged Chinese spy balloon, that is a terrible idea.

Ohio Senator J.D. Vance tweeted an image of himself staring at the sky while posing with a rifle.

Failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake tweeted an image of herself holding a rifle with the caption, “I’m told there’s a balloon that needs to be taken care of?” The balloon is nowhere near Arizona.

House Representative Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.) told his Twitter followers to “take the shot.” Zinke wrote, “in Montana we do not bow. We shoot it down.”

Former First Son Donald Trump Jr. tweeted to his followers that if the government won’t take down the balloon “perhaps we just let the good people of Montana do their thing… I imagine they have the capability and the resolve to do it all themselves. “

Despite the clear danger posed by firing a gun at a target you absolutely will not hit, prominent conservative figures, second amendment advocates, and even gun manufacturers are encouraging their followers to take matters into their own hands.

"the clear danger posed by firing a gun at a target you absolutely will not hit," Forgive them Texcaster, they have the reasoning ability of a seventh grade school student. Perhaps encumbered by too much genetic carry over from or chimpanzee relatives. Indeed it would be an interesting project to link genetics to political attitudes.

Old fact, what goes up must come down... I recall my father fixing a leak in the roof caused by a bullet. During hunting season in Michigan, if you lived in the country, you could be an accidental target.

Physics of shooting at that balloon: "A bullet fired straight up, with no wind, might reach a height of 10,000 feet (about three kilometers), but will come back down at only around 150 miles per hour"

Balloon in space history... we followed with maps in the morning paper... it was awesome... huge metalized plastic balloon in space!!!
"...two American spacecraft, launched in 1960 and 1964, were metalized balloon satellites acting as passive reflectors of microwave signals."

Someone, maybe George Santos, should at least try to explain this to the elected giddy Q-tards in the story.

Who has the “reasoning ability of a seventh grader?” I would suggest it’s the people who can’t understand a metaphor for “taking action” and not demonstrating Biden’s normal fecklessness. Every man and woman who owns rifles knows their ballistic capabilities, we are all Newtonian followers after all, and realize there hasn’t been a rifle made that is privately owned to reach up 60K feet. In this discussion we have two kinds of dope/D.O.P.E.

... and yet JDVance, Karen Lake, et al are only too happy to sool the 'unwashed and poorly educated' on to the balloons, to triumph over Canny Joe Biden, the Chinese and the laptop. Jesus wept.

Haven’t seen that since high school.
