Alan Dershowitz: DirecTV Clearly 'Wrong,' Irresponsible.
Feb 7, 2023 13:50:08   #
Fotoartist Loc: Detroit, Michigan

Noted former Harvard professor and famed liberal constitutional attorney Alan Dershowitz harshly criticized AT&T DirecTV for removing Newsmax from its channel lineup.

"Clearly, they used economic reasons as a cover for political reasons," Dershowitz told Newsmax's Greta Van Susteren Monday night.

"The only two stations that they bumped are two [that are] relatively conservative: Newsmax is kind of centrist-conservative, and the other one that's much more hard-right conservative." (One America News)

Dershowitz said he believes AT&T's decision "had elements of partisan and ideological and political bias directed at stations that don't adhere to the views of the company." "I think it's just wrong," Dershowitz concluded.

"Anybody who believes that this was purely an economic decision should buy a bridge in Brooklyn," he said, adding that A&T DirecTV "ought to reconsider and put Newsmax back on."

He noted that, as a legal matter, DirecTV might not be acting outside the law, but taking Newsmax off its television service is "wrong" and irresponsible to "good citizenship" in an America with free speech.

DirecTV customers call toll free at 877-763-9762 to cancel/complain.

Dershowitz goes on to say, "I can't imagine one of my former students sitting there and saying, 'Oh, this is a good thing; let's just take Newsmax off the air and deny them the ability to speak and keep people from watching them; that sounds like a great idea' — no, they wouldn’t say that." Dershowitz said.

However many Libs on this forum have already formed their opinion that this IS a good idea. Yea! One less of the miniscule amount of center right voices eliminated. So all we end up with is our own l*****t echo chamber. That's a good thing for us (but not the US).

Pretty sick.
Apparently they are losing customers both TV and cell phone.
Problem is, I will bet Sorros is propping up their losses.

The Libs claim the right is f*****t but they always accuse others of exactly what they do. F*****ts cannot defend themselves in the marketplace of ideas so this is always what they resort to.

Their idea of free speech is to repress opposing speech that they do noy like or disagree with in any way.
That happens here a lot with admin on UHH as well.

Exactly. Shutting down speech they don't agree with has been happening for a while now.

Yes I agree. Admin. Has banned me from chit-chat for over a year for making a tiny harmless joke that they deemed political. Over a year!

I've been banned from chit-chat over 2 years now and was never given clear reason why. I was told I was warned but I never found any warning posts. I can only guess. Some times I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut.
Is admin. the same for chit-chat as other parts of the web site? I tried to have a conversation with admin. but they just cut me off short.
It makes me laugh because this self important attitude is the same you see when trying to do business with some government employee or bureaucrat.

Same here with twitter. I'm banned for life with them and have been for a few years. Every year or so I ask them why and to re instate me but no replies. It's been a while but I think I told them what they could do with their little twitter.

I doubt that Direct TV or any other satellite or cable company can take on very much extra expense since their customer base is dropping like flies in favor of streaming.
