These are photos of the 2 remaining cheetahs of the coalition of 5 male cheetahs. The 3 others were all killed in the past 12 or so months.
When you view these photos you can't help but feel the love they have for each other. They had one half hearted chase that did not result in a kill. They took a nap and we went for lunch not too far away under a tree. We did manage to miss them finding something for lunch. What ever it was it was small as it was gone when we returned to see if they up. Obviously they tricked us into thinking they were going to nap for a while....otherwise we would not have left.... can't win them all!
The running photos are far from good as they were fairly far away and it was late morning. But, I'm sharing as they are my only running cheetah photos! I do have more that will come soon!

An outstanding set once again. It's a shame they didn't all make it. That is the nature of nature, though.

I really like the last one. (Not that I don't like the others)
Excellent set, Beth! That "leopard in the air" in your last photo is outstanding.
Cheetahs were my first big cat shots, and I remain enthusiastic about any photo op. for them. They never seem to be bothered about us 2-legged animals trying to capture an image while they are parked on any bit of elevation (like a low termite mound) scanning the horizon for dinner opportunities.
But I have never had the good fortune to see them actually chasing prey (except on TV of course).
Congratulations on your captures.

Wonderful photos. Thanks. Was over at Ruth Buzzi's house yesterday (she and her husband Kent live right down the road from us). In addition to being a wonderful person and one of the funniest comedians ever, Ruthie is a tremendous painter. She has a cheetah painting in her living room that is tremendous. I will ask her if we can share it on this website.
So sad to hear about the 3 who were killed. These photos are quite beautiful. No they're not, they are spectacular. Thank you.
