Yes, you are seeing some motion blur. I was shooting at 1/250th of a second because I had to use fill flash as it was under a spotlight. If you have never shot under a spotlight what you will quickly find out is that anytime the wrestlers get to the front half of the mat they are silhouetted because the light is behind them. If you try to shoot without flash at even 800th of a second the ISO will balloon to upwards of 25,600 as there are no other lights in the room other than the spotlight Can't shoot at over 1/250th unless you have the ability to use high sync flash, and I don't happen to own a flash that I can use for that with a Z9. So, the choice is only shoot when the wrestlers are on the back half of the mat, shoot with the flash turned up so high that you get rid of all ambient light, or use the flash for fill and the spotlight as the main light source. I prefer the third choice. The problem with using the flash as the primary light source is that the higher power the flash is turned up to the longer it takes to recycle so you can't shoot bursts of shots. The problem with using only the spotlight is that you can only shoot about half the time. That makes fill flash the best compromise. You can still shoot bursts of shots, but you get high some motion blur, a high ISO, and some noise. The farther from the camera the wrestlers are the greater the chance of motion blur using this method as the flash becomes a smaller portion of the light source.
I don't own Topaz, and since I work for a newspaper rarely do any noise reduction as noise does not show much in newsprint.
