I just got my pics back from Amazon so I was able to compare to the Snapfish photos.
There are no Shutterfly photos because I decided I didn't want to do business with a company that wouldn't help solve a problem.
I went to Snapfish next and it was laughable how easy it was to setup my account and order pics. About 10 minutes start to finish. Snapfish is the discount part of Shutterfly.
I like them because they quoted a reasonable delivery time and then bested that by 5 days. Their pricing is ok but on small orders like mine the $10.00 freight is tough. Also their paper / printing size make for some interesting cropping.

after I discovered Amazon, I found 4 images I wanted to try at 12" x 18"
Their delivery time wasn't bad. they bested the quoted time by three days. They use UPS for del. instead of USPO. I like that. The prints go on the porch not in the mail box.
Both companies use the same packaging which was good because it helped me to see the different quality in the print papers between the two companies.
Snapfish paper was thiner and had to lay flat for a couple of days to get the curl out before it was flat. The Amazon paper was heavier and laid flat right away.
I have amazon prime so freight was free, I don't know the cost for frt. if you are not a prime member.

I use Shutterfly, and I have always been happy with the results. If it works, don't fix it.

Your report is biased because of your dealings with Shutterfly. Your title says you compared Shutterfly, but your message was very biased against them therefore I find your report unhelpful as I use Shutterfly.
Shutterfly has a customer service department that I find very helpful and knowledgeable, and friendly, I do not agree with your assessment of the company. Again, your results are biased because of your comments about Shutterfly.

Does Amazon actually do prints? I went to Amazon prime and searched. I found many prime options done by different sellers with free prime shipping. Did you order from one of those? If not, please explain how to find Amazon photo?

I know they do because I have the Amazon photos app on my iPhone and iPad. I have never tried ordering from my iMac but I’m sure there’s a way. But on the iPhone app you can order prints.

You don't want those guys.
For the Amazon photo go to your start page, up on the top left corner. On my page there are 3 horizonal lines then the word all. you get a drop down menu and about 1/3 of the way down you should find it. I had trouble the first time and ended up going to goggle and found it through a search for Amazon photo.

I favored the Amazon prints. A little bit apples to orange's changing light and all that but I will stick with Amazon for now.

Billnikon you are funny. Are you sure you are not family? Did you forget the part where Shutterfly would not help me solve the problem? That might make someone biased. How about the part where I said I went to Snapfish who is owned by Shutterfly and set up an account and placed my order right away? Please feel free to disagree.
Oh, and Amazon has free freight.
