Googling something else I stumbled upon this beauty of a knockoff... aahh, camera.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKGJ8QC4/ref=syn_sd_offsite_desktop_5?psc=1&tag=dradisplay-20&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzOTRLVUxMSlBCSEQ4JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzA5ODcxMVhVSFRHV1U4UExLNSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzc1MDExM1ZOVzhCTkpISFlGUiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNkX29mZnNpdGVfZGVza3RvcCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=&language=en_US

I love that mirrored "CMOS CAMERA DIGITAL ZOOM" printed on the lens! Does the guy that designed it, even know latin letters?

Also, I believe that the hot shoe is fake...

That's a great price! And 4K!

I've seen cameras like this tested online. Surprisingly, they're not very good.

Yea, no center button (or any buttons) on the hot shoe...

It looks like it has a hot shoe cover but it could be faked.

"an unlicensed copy of something, especially fashion clothing, intended to be sold at a lower price than the original."

ie. not the real deal.

doesn't look like it a copy of some existing camera.

I wouldn't know, I don't follow (know about) every single camera in existence.

Then again, the title could have been a euphemism.

Because it is so extraordinary bad... it resembles a RX100 to me, but it seems that the creator of that monstrosity blended a bunch of different compact cameras to get that result.

Its not a hotshoe. Why call it that ? Its a mounting point for a video light for vloggers. If the camera works at at all, its ok for vlogging. For the $$ and minimal features (tiny sensor, no evf, etc) it probably does work ... somewhat, until a switch or button dies prematurely.

I don't think the "hot shoe" or whatever is even functional. None of the photos shows something attached to it, and close inspection (?) seems to show that it is only a depression on the top plate with some chrome bands printed on it.

I'believe it's some knockoff surveillance module fitted inside a plastic box...

Something like this:

A cheap product that tries to fool people into thinking it's the real thing. Designer handbags and shoes are popular knock-offs. Expensive watches, too.

As someone else pointed out the hot shoe is covered with a plastic cover which is standard on many new cameras these days. How can you be sure it is not a hot shoe unless the cover is removed? I have no idea if it is a hot shoe or not. I am not promoting the good or bad features of the camera in question but am only addressing the point of hot shoe or not hot shoe. Isn't it impossible to tell without removing the hot shoe type cover? Did you see some other photos I missed that proved not a hot shoe?

No, certainly I cannot be sure.

But, if I understand something about cheap no brand Chinese manufacturers, whatever feature thet support will be clearly shown on the photos or - worse yet - printed on the body.

I'd expect something like "HOT SOE" (with a typo) printed next to it and a bunch of photos of happy people using the camera with a flash or something attached to it.
