11.11.11. Armistice day. Veterans day.
Greetings. Today is Veterans Day in the Us and Armistice day in Britain. So called because at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month The Guns fell silent to end "the war to End All Wars". The First World War. So today am giving a mix of pix from Britain and The U.S.A. The Poppy (From Flanders Fields) has become Britain's symbol of honouring service personnel and am delighted to see it spreading here. This Summer Bomber Command memorial was opened by H.M. The Queen. Entirely raised by public subscription as finale to the dedication the last airworthy Lancaster bomber flew over and dropped about 55,000 poppies. " (55.573 members of Bomber Command were killed) A very moving moment. One unusual, and possibly unique feature of this memorial is that it pays tribute not only to the aircrew but also to those who were bombed. The U.S Pictures are from Arlington West. A tempory memorial erected every Sunday next to Santa Monica Pier to pay tribute to those U.S. personnel who so far have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. if you look closely you will see crosses, Crescents and Stars of David. All representing the diversity of America and its military. If you visit you will be humbled and almost certainly weep. Please take two minutes of of your day to observe a silence so that "We will remember them". 11.11.11. would be best. Together, we can solve all manner of things. But only together. Thankyou. Peace.

The one that had to be downloaded had an error in the naming so that it was not recognized as a JPG. Here it is correctly named.
A great tribute and a wonderful posting.
Thank You.
Fantastic lighting effect. A soulful tribute to those who have given all.

The download mentioned between 8 and 9 is different from the last picture and, in my opinion, much more catching!
Thank you for posting all.
