Cold snap here in the PNW, 18 degrees F at 7:45 this morning. Noted that temp as I was placing the hummer feeders out.
The images posted here were taken on January 29, 2023 at 3:30 PM PST. Z9, Z 100-400 attached, DX Crop mode. All images are high-ISO and were cropped and post-processed to some degree.

Interesting Winter light-clear day but around 20 F-cold for these parts. The girls enjoy being out of their armored cage although there is not much to eat. We throw down some seed and feed for their pecking pleasure-the wild birds enjoy the mix as well.

Download and enjoy!

Thanx! They are fun to watch. I am not too mobile, I needed extra reach so I used DX crop.

Thanx! They did huddle in the old rooster shack. They do not seem to mind the cold.

Thanx! You are right-they do not seem to. They do not find anything to peck though.

And I thought that cold chicken was day old fried chicken. My daughter has four hens that are super friendly. They follow her across the pasture to my house and peck on the storm door when they want a treat.

Thanx for viewing! Ours used to but the raccoons prey on them.

Thanx! We have wonderfully tasty eggs everyday! A dozen costs what? We have had chickens and ducks for over twenty years!

A fine set, Tim.
We get eggs from our daughter who has about a dozen chickens.
