Jordan dam, Moncure, NC.
Nikon D500, 300 mm PF f/4 + TC 1.4 iii.
In the last photo, I left the foreground gull, slightly out of focus, in the composition on purpose. Comments and critiques welcome.
Really GREAT photos.

Great set of sharp pictures! Regarding composition of a picture and what is in focus/what isn't...
The foreground can be blurry on purpose: it might look fine.
But, when the foreground is at the same time also a subject...things become complicate.
I would prefer a composition with sharp subjects in the very first foreground...becoming gradually blurry into the distance. Or (alternative) ...the first subject really heavy blurry...the next one sharp...the last one more or less blurry, which is what You made except the first one is not heavily blurry.
In any case, interesting set!
A really nice set of sharp images.
Congratulations on submitting some incredible photographs of gulls. Each one is just very special. Well done.
Dennis

Thank you, Dan, for your feedback. I agree with your assessment, and would have preferred the gull in the front to have the sharpest focus, the second to be blurry, and the third to be the way it is. But I was "focused" on the middle gull when the front one photo bombed the scene!
