Went looking for an Eagle to photograph at Jordan Lake Dam last week. While there, I had the pleasure of meeting fellow UHHer, srsincary, AKA Ronnie... It was a treat to meet him. His Eagle photos are what inspired me to give it a try in that location.
So, I only saw one... here is the photo. Background is too busy, I know, but its all I had to work with! Better luck next time!
I see you, looking at me!
that's one serious looking raptor!

IMHO, there's nothing objectionable about the background
You took a great shot of a bald eagle 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇
A nice portrait image. The background is fine.
The alternative would have been to shoot wide open and have a softer background, but it still would have been busy. The key is that the eagle is nicely focused.

Great image !!!
You can't control the background when shooting nature.
Nice photo. If there is a chance to get a shot changing the angle of view for a better background, I'll take it. But lots of times it is not optimal & I just take the shot & hope it is in focus. After having a good portfolio built up, or find better subject/locations for shooting, then you can be more selective if you want to. I'll always opt to take the shot anyway.

Agreed... In this case, there was a big river (maybe 150 ft wide plus the banks) between me and the Eagle. And, he was in the trees. No matter how much I could have moved laterally, it would not have helped. Such is life with the big lens... Next time, maybe the Eagle will cooperate and sit out in the open!
You nailed it! Background adds to the capture.
