Anyone know of a reliable source for the free versions of Nik Silver Eflex and Vivienza that were available at one time? My hard drive crashed last fall and lost them.. I know they are available, however I didn't use them enough.
to warrant the cost today.

This was a topic in my local photography group about a week ago. The presenter said you could still get the free version from 2016 if you google search hard enough.

If it is good for what you do, why not buy it?

I lost mine to, know idea why. I used it occasionally so I'll look for it again.
But if someone finds it first can they post a link?

Sort of related - I use AFFINITY 2 these days, does anyone know if it will work with AFFINITIY?

It does, albeit with a few glitches in Viveza and the hdr module.

I use the old free version with Affinity 2. I had to reinstall (copy the files to the new folder) when I upgraded to Affinity 2.
I believe the folder in WIN10 is "C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Photo\2.0\Plugins\Nik Collection\

Can anyone recommend a .bf file reader to open NIK with? I'm a bit of a PC numpty so don't dive into things I can't undo easily - and I don't recall an issue when I first had this suite on a previous computer.

I open the Nik suite directly from Affinity. Affinity has instructions to help you set it up as an external filter. It was fairly straightforward with Mac.
