Playing around with the AI Dal-E-2 this morning. For a Text Prompt I typed in "Rabbit in woods with Tall Trees ,Digital Art." I have included what it gave me back down below. I took the original and reworked it a bit in Photoshop and added a shadow figure in the background. So is the Dal-E-2 image my work because I used my vision in Text? Is this any different that using a Stock Image off the internet as a base starting image for my composites? Anyway, I'm starting to have fun with this AI stuff.

You can rest in peace, the art is yours! No one else envisioned and initiated the creation of it. The software was just a tool to accomplish your purpose, like a hammer, a saw, or wood plane etc. can be used by a carpenter to build a cabinet. No one or anything else can claim to be the originator. And I am "unanimous" in that. LOL . . .

My personal feeling is that you should not claim it's your art. Call it something else, like Modified Download or something else. The idea of the foreground rabbit in the woods is not yours.

I know that some legal beavers would disagree with me.

I'm not interested in an argument but I tend to not agree with you on this. Without my original text prompt, the image would not be created. I did a google search with that text and didn't get anything resembling my AI image. I do agree that the original is really not my art but once I repurposed it in Photoshop I believe that Art piece is mine.

Oh, it’s yours all right. In my opinion, the less of yourself that you put into it, the less it is art . . . That includes thinking about it.

Yes and no. This your art using a Dal-E-2 generated image generated by you. It is not something that someone else produced. Can someone else do the same? Possibly. The way I see it, this is a new type or form of art and assistance with your own art.

Interesting, but not, if AI composited, your image at all.

The Indiana State Fair Photo Show rules this year specifically forbid any AI images, and anyone submitting one will be disqualified from the show.

I actually used one of my Drop Shadow Creations with the base AI image to create the composite. Textures and paint etc were added in Photoshop. I really don't see much difference when using a Adobe Stock image as a base for doing a composite. As far as your State Fair, I agree, because this type of image is actually digital art, not something that was taken with a camera. I guess, in the end, it's not a photograph, it's a digital Art piece.

Well, if you’re arguing that it is your own art piece, then why did you ask the question??

What’s the difference between your using the online service and just calling a friend to make a drawing of a rabbit in the woods and “improving” the drawing?

Take your own pictures if you want to claim credit.

Great Suggestion. I just took a photo of my digital Art work. So, I guess now I can claim the photo. LOL.

Of course it’s yours Fstop, I told you that the other day when we had a similar conversation over another of your images! The big BUT is, you’ve got to state it’s AI and hopefully you will always go on to put your own twist on it with a bit of Ps. You’re going about it the right way. No point in fighting progress.

The second photo has a high impact. We from the first photo know that there will be an unsuspecting man walking by who will be attacked and eaten by the huge carnivorous rabbit that has developed a taste for blood. Obviously, this is a warning against genetic modification.

I like the geometric texture of the first and the red shade of the second.

Thanks for the feedback. Funny how people view things differently. I'm not a fan of that red tint in the original image.
