The Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6 AF-S, VR lens has been a favorite since I bought one used from another fellow photographer. Version I creeps badly but it has an easy fix with a rubber band. I never carry the lens extended precisely to avoid creeping.
There is no discernible quality between version I and II. I believe both have the same optical formula. Version II has a button to control creeping, which could be convenient for some.

The quality of the images I have made with this lens I consider excellent. It is a great all around lens. The buyer will be very happy with it, just do not shoot right away when the image is in focus, wait a second then shoot. I am talking from the experience with my lens, especially at focal lengths near 200mm.
