Love these guys, probably because they are so hard to photograph. And a good example of the male plumage compared to the female. Well done.

A beautiful capture of these wary little birds. We have a couple that stop by behind our house pond occasionally. Almost impossible to photograph unless pretty much out of range requiring deep crops at 600mm.

You are right about the deep crop. The was with a Nikon D500 (DX Format) and an 800mm Nikkor lens.
