... 2. Never just yank it out of the computer without "ejecting" it first. I find the simplest way is to look for this icon on the task bar. There are other ways. If you don't do this, you may cause files on the drive to be corrupted, or perhaps the whole drive. It's a crapshoot.

If one unplugs it prior to ALL data being written, oh well....
