This mosque was built ≈1840 on a hill of the old Egyptian Army Citadel, making it one of the most visible landmarks in Cairo. The structure is 170' tall with slender minarets that tower to 270'. There is one large central dome surrounded by four smaller domes, and four half domes. It has an exterior courtyard 300' square, and the interior prayer hall is 180' square.
It's 35' high walls use beautiful alabaster stone which gives it its name. Officially it is the Mohamed Ali mosque.

Absolutely fantastic photos. How did you get these without people in them or did you do several shots and then delete them in a composite?

Our guide got us out of bed early so we could arrive before the large crowds. There were a fair number of tourists, but I maneuvered my shots and timing to eliminate most of them, and removed a few in PS. Without a tripod and limited time no photo stacking.
Very nice work on the pictures. Beautiful building.
Another set of very nice photos from Egypt, Hereford!!
